This week at Hare Krishna Valley we continued with our planting of the broccoli and cauliflower crop. This now brings the total to 5,500 seedlings in the ground. We will begin picking the vegetables in the beginning of August, and will continue right through until the end of September. We spent one day weeding the garden with garden forks and ploughs. Manigriva Prabhu has put the cows ahead of the crop in the green manure pasture to naturally fertilize the ground with their valuable dung. This is the age old and the most effective system of fertilising the land naturally.
We celebrated Narshingh deva’s appearance day at the farm with the small but intimate gathering of devotees. In total there were not more than 10 of us, so everyone was given the opportunity to personally bath our diety of Lord Narshingh deva. We also enjoyed performing kirtana and aarti for the Lord’s pleasure, and heard a class elaborating on His transcendental pastimes. When it came time to honour the Lord’s Maha prasadam, we did not have to queue in a line to receive the feast. This is one of the advantages of participating in a small, but intimate festival.
We look forward to sharing more news with you next week.
Until then, I remain yours in the service of Srila Prabhupada.
